Huawei has initiated the rollout of first beta Android 5.1 Lollipop build, numbered B302, to Honor 4X devices in Asian Pacific regions, starting with Malaysia. We’ve already provided the download links and upgrade tutorials in our previous articles.
This B302 build, based on Emotion UI 3.1, is intended for the Che2-L11 variant of Honor 4X only, so if you happen to own this particular variant you can give it a spin too. Full technical details and download link can be found in our previous article, see below.
Since this is a beta build, there are a couple of things that you need to keep in mind.
- This update will not be rolled out via OTA. You need to download and install it manually (see link above).
- As of yet, there’s no official downgrade package to let you restore the stock KitKat firmware – we’ll update you as soon as it gets published.
- Given its beta status, there’s no guarantee that your data will be safe. It’ll be your job to keep a few backups somewhere safe.
- Some apps, settings and sensors may also not work at this time.
So, if you’re okay with this, go ahead and flash it!
Those who’d rather wait for the final build should keep themselves updated by subscribing to this page of ours: Huawei Honor 4X Firmware & OTA Collection.
