Motorola Moto G GPe (Google Play edition) is finally getting treated to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop (build LRX21Z) update via OTA. You can download this stock OTA package manually via direct link given below and flash it on your KitKat-based phone using the stock recovery.

Your phone should have completely stock (unmodded) Android 4.4.4 KitKat – KTU84P – before the installation of this OTA. After downloading this OTA rename it as “Update.zip”, reboot your phone into recovery mode, set it to receive update from ADB, and then type “adb sideload update.zip” in the ADB terminal. If you’re converting from XT1032/XT1033 then first flash all partition files of GPe’s KTU84P using Fastboot and then sideload this OTA – don’t worry XDA’s got loads of info on this stuff.
