Install Lollipop CarbonROM on Moto G
1. Prerequisites
- First Generation Motorola Moto G (2013 Edition).
- Unlocked bootloader and TWRP/CWM custom recovery.
- Full Nandroid image backup of existing system created using the custom recovery. Store this backup someplace safe.
- A USB cable and a PC with compatible USB drivers.
- At least 60% battery.
Disclaimer: As soon as you unlock your bootloader and flash something your warranty goes void. We shall not be held liable for any kind of issue you encounter during or after flashing this ROM. You should be aware of the fact that this ROM are prone to causing unexpected reboots, data loss, nonfunctional hardware and app crashes.
2. Installation
Step 1. Download the ROM package “CARBON-LP-5.1.1-UNOFFICIAL-20150528-2226-falcon.zip” and Gapps on your PC via the links given above.
Step 2. Connect your Moto G to the computer over a USB connection as a mass storage device. Make sure the SD card has enough space to hold the ROM, Gapps and your backup (if any).
Step 3. Next, disconnect all the cables and power off your device.
Step 4. Reboot into the recovery mode: Hold Vol Down + Vol Up + Power button for a few seconds until a boot menu is displayed. From the boot menu move to “Recovery” using Vol Down and select it using Vol Up button, the Android logo will be displayed. Now, hold Vol Up + Vol Down for 5 seconds and then press the Power button once.
Step 5. From the main menu, tap “Wipe” and format these partitions: Data, Cache and Dalvik Cache. It might take a few minutes to complete.
Step 6. Return to the main screen, tap “Install” and flash the ROM package from your SD Card.
Step 7. After the ROM’s been flashed, flash your Gapps through the same Install feature and then finally reboot your phone.
