Install CyanogenMod 12.1 on Honor 3C
1. Prerequisites
- Fully unlocked bootloader (Tutorial)
- A custom recovery like TWRP/CWM installed
- Full nandroid backup of all existing partitions created using the custom recovery stored in external memory.
- At least 50% juice left in the battery
- USB cable and a PC
Disclaimer: Both the CM 12.1 builds provided above are in beta phase and are completely unofficial. Right now, they are causing issues with basic phone functionality & stability resulting in FC’s, non-functional SIM cards and broken system apps. In other words, this ROM won’t be able to handle your day to day tasks. Flash them at your own risk!
2. Procedure
Step 1:Â Download one of the CM 12.1 builds from above. Copy that ROM package to the root folder of your external SD card without extracting.
Step 2:Â You also need to download Android 5.1 compatible Google apps (Gapps). Download the appropriate Gapps here:Â Download Google Apps (Gapps). Copy the Gapps Zip package to the SD too.
Step 3:Â Disconnect the USB cable and reboot your phone in the recovery mode by holding Volume up + Power button.
Step 4:Â In the custom recovery, go to “Wipe” and perform a Factory Reset. You can manually wipe Cache, Data and System partitions too.
Step 5:Â Return to the main screen, tap “Install” and choose the ROM package your want to flash. Make sure Zip verification is not ticked otherwise the installation will fail.
Step 6:Â After installation, go to Install again and choose the Gapps zip package this time.
Step 7:Â Upon completion, tap “Wipe Dalvik Cache” to ensure you don’t encounter any bootloop.
Step 8:Â Finally, reboot your device from the Power menu. The first boot usually takes 5-10 minutes. After that, you’ll be prompted to set the language and time.
That’s all folks!
